Biography

Brielan Smiechowski is an epidemiologist, educator and life sciences strategist with 15+ years of experience driving innovation at the intersection of health research, data analytics and AI/ML. Alongside her role at Reliant AI, Brielan is helping shape the next generation of industry leaders as a lecturer at the University of Southern California’s Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Previously, Brielan held strategic roles at Veeva, HealthVerity, Aitia, PrecisionAQ, Mapi Group, and the Arkansas Bioscience Institute. Brielan holds an MSc in epidemiology from McGill University and a BS in Biological Sciences from Arkansas State University.

Brielan Smiechowski is an epidemiologist, educator, and life sciences strategist with over 15 years of experience driving innovation at the intersection of evidence synthesis, real-world data, and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as Strategic Engagement Manager at Reliant AI, she plays a key role in shaping the future of AI-powered decision-making for the life sciences. In this role, she partners closely with customers and Reliant’s machine learning and product teams to build industry-leading tools that enhance transparency, trust, and actionable insights.In parallel with her industry leadership, Brielan is a dedicated educator at the University of Southern California, where she teaches healthcare literature analysis, evidence synthesis and biopharmaceutical strategy. Known for translating complex concepts into practical applications, she mentors future health leaders on responsibly leveraging health data and AI/ML to achieve meaningful impact.

Brielan’s work is grounded in a deep understanding of both the scientific and human dimensions of healthcare. After completing her BS in Biological Sciences at Arkansas State University, she led NIH- and Department of Defense-funded  research projects at the Arkansas Bioscience Institute. She further specialized in epidemiology by earning an MSc from McGill University, where her research focused on pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety.

Her early contributions included developing a multinational database on healthcare access and publishing peer-reviewed studies in oncology and chronic diseases.As a researcher with Mapi Group and PrecisionAQ, she conducted complex evidence synthesis, including systematic literature reviews (SLRs) and network meta-analyses (NMAs), for global life sciences organizations. She subsequently transitioned into business development and strategy, leading data initiatives and teams at influential healthtech companies including Veeva, HealthVerity, and Aitia. Through her consulting firm, BS Strategy, she advises startups, health systems, and government agencies on designing equitable, data-driven solutions that serve diverse populations.A published researcher and frequent speaker, Brielan is a passionate advocate for health equity. She brings a multidisciplinary perspective that spans life sciences, academia, and social justice. Her career reflects a steadfast commitment to using technology—including AI/ML—not just for innovation’s sake, but to build more responsive, inclusive, and effective healthcare systems.
