Our mission is impact. We’re leveraging the power of AI to improve the ability of others to excel at their work
We are scientists. Builders. Entrepreneurs. We spearheaded many of AI’s most impactful applications. We led teams at Google, DeepMind, and EY Parthenon. We are now bridge cutting-edge AI research and the biopharma industry.

Marc G. Bellemare
Marc G. Bellemare, PhD, is a Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Reliant AI.
A Canada CIFAR AI Chair at Mila, his work on the Atari 2600 benchmark, published in Nature, is credited with launching the field of deep reinforcement learning (RL).
Marc has a history of applying cutting-edge RL commercially and previously led the RL team at Google Brain (Montréal) after his tenure as a research scientist at DeepMind (UK).

Richard Schlegel
Richard Schlegel, PhD, is a Co-Founder and Head of Commercial at Reliant AI.
With a strong background in life sciences, he holds a PhD from Imperial College London where he researched lung cancer.
Richard’s commercial experience includes consulting roles at Navigant/Guidehouse, and most recently, with the EY-Parthenon Life Sciences Strategy team.

Karl Moritz Hermann
Karl Moritz, DPhil, is a Co-Founder and CEO of Reliant AI.
He divides his time between fundamental research in machine learning and applying AI to the real world. He holds a doctorate from Oxford in computational linguistics and machine learning.
Having sold his first startup, Dark Blue Labs, to Google in 2014, he worked as a senior staff researcher at DeepMind for five years.
Founder Quote

"We believe that the transformative impact of generative AI will be only realized by those willing to take on the world’s biggest information challenges. To make this future come true, we deploy our longstanding expertise in reinforcement learning and natural language processing to some of the hardest problems in pharma, the life sciences and beyond"

In this ProFIT project we develop a system to simplify knowledge work through the help of AI. AI is used as a tool for enterprise illumination rather than automation, so as to do justice to the analytical requirements of advanced tasks. The main focus of this project is to research algorithms and language models that prioritise precision over speed and that prioritise recall as an overall metric so as to satisfy the requirements for use in a genuine knowledge work context.
